Transtar Transportation was established in 1986 and operated the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) multi-service concession at the Orlando International Airport from 1990 to 2001. Transtar had an exclusive contract to provide luxury sedan/limousine services to the Walt Disney World Complex since August 1993. Transtar continuously served Orlando with uncompromising levels of performance. However, the downturn in the economy, culminating in the events of September 11, 2001, had a very adverse effect on the company, Transtar was unable to continue operating all its services and ceased operating on October 17, 2001, at which time Star Transportation Management, Inc./ Star Taxi, Inc. commenced managing the limousine and sedan operations.
Star Taxi, Star’s affiliate company, was established in 1995, and is licensed by the City of Orlando and the Orlando International Airport. Since its inception, Star Taxi has operated the DBE taxi concession at Orlando International Airport. Star Taxi is the chosen taxicab service provider for numerous area hotels, resorts, restaurants and corporate clients, and serves Central Florida’s residents and visitors with unsurpassed excellence. Some of which include the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotels, Walt Disney World, and the Rosen Centre Hotels. Star Taxi is committed to continuing to serve the corporate, convention and tourism markets with emphasis on superior service and with equipment that far exceeds industry standards.
Star Taxi sets exacting standards in the mechanical service and physical appearance of its fleet. A vehicle service program is maintained and vehicles are subject to rigorous, regularly scheduled inspections. Vehicles have a clean, corporate look, and carry no advertising. Drivers are carefully selected based on experience, professionalism and knowledge of the region. The good driving history of our applicants is established on hire and re-verified every 90 days. Drivers are required to maintain City of Orlando permits, and undergo orientation to ensure intimate working knowledge of Star Taxi’s procedures and Central Florida’s facilities and attractions.
Star Taxi operates a 24-hour computerized Reservation and Dispatch system for telephone reservations. Each vehicle is equipped with 2-way radio equipment and/or mobile data terminals to ensure speed and accuracy of response. Star Taxi carries insurance levels in excess of industry standards.
